Gas prices are continuing to rise around the country from week to week. The U.S. national gasoline average of $3.48 is about $0.35 higher than the price this time last year. Instead of letting this cost make a dent in your wallet, try out the neat new app “GasBuddy” on your iPhone, iPad, Android or Blackberry.
GasBuddy can be downloaded for free and in one click, you can locate gas stations nearest you with cheapest gas prices. You can search by lowest price or closest location to suit your personal needs. Also, turning on the location finder will help you while traveling through areas in which you are unfamiliar. Not only can you see the price of regular fuel, you can filter your results for midgrade, premium and diesel prices.
Another way to help you save money on gas is to look into store rewards programs. Grocery stores around the country are partnering with gas stations to allow you to save money with point systems. Usually, the more money you spend at the store, the more points you receive. The number of points is the amount of cents you take off per gallon of gas. For example, I saved $0.30 per gallon last week with my Winn Dixie card at Shell.
